Short wave crystal radio

Here’s a little shortwave crystal radio as simple as you can get, but it works. Run through a small mini amp so you can here it on the video.

I also built a xtal shortwave radio back in 87,but I use two toilet paper tubes hooked up in parallel. And on one tube I tapped the coil for better selectivity. And a variable cap aross all of that, but the tapped coil gave most of the tunning! I also used the same radioshack audio amp!! Radio mexico and ( at the time) the BBC came in quite strong!!!!!!

I did the same thing using a long piece of wire, a coil wrapped around a film canister, a 40NPO orange capacitor, and a tuning capacitor out of a cheap AM radio. I hooked it to that exact model of speaker and heard a bunch of shortwave religious stations. I call it the Jesus radio.

Every crystal set I ever built received the religious stations better than anything else. I’m glad someone else has the same results.
