That looks like a nice shortwave. Basically all you need to do is string a wire from the radio kind of like a clothsline (the longer the better) make sure the end of the wire where you hang it isint bear so it dont touch what you hang it on. you might be able to find one at radioshack. You dont absolutly need it. One of the few cool things about shortwaves is “numberstations”aka spy stations. You hear them now and then. Youtube numberstations, youll get an idea on freaquencys and times. Later
shortwave = ham radio. You’ll hear lots of foreign broadcast mixed in with the amateur radio frequencies. Most of them are in the 40 meter band which is 7mhz range. Because of how the signals are, you’ll hear most of the broadcast stations during the day. For an antenna, if you have the room, get yourself a MFJ-1778 G5RV antenna, they run about 45 bucks, you can even use it to transmit on if you ever got your license.
get yourself a longwire, as long and high as possible. tune till you hear what youre chasing and use that ant trim to peak signal. bfo pitch is for adjusting ssb tone.
good fun the old sw radios, used to have a dx302 here. have a good one mate.
Mike, you can try to use your CB antenna or if you have a beam will work very well It will a antenna switch to change from your shortwave or CB radio..A wire dipole about 10.5 feet on each leg, one for the center and the other for the ground. Good luck.
mike u could always try your cb antenna on it it should work good put the connector of the cb antenna on the antenna of the radio u could use a twist tie or alumuninm foil to hold them together.
